19. Sundara Light Dances 

Cultural Conversations, Nelson Whakatū

Take a moment during the festival to step into a cosy space decorated with saris and lights. Enjoy the illuminated movement of dancing textiles and South Asian dance.

Each dance sequence goes for 5 minutes.
The dances will be performed four times between 6pm and 7pm, each evening.
This will be a first-come-first-served event (because it's inside).

Fri 30 June, Sun 2 & Tues 4 July
Illuminated Dancing Textiles
Step into a blacked-out room to watch light-infused dancing fabrics with soothing ambient music composed especially for the occasion.

Sat 1 & Mon 3 July
Bollywood Dances
A fusion of Bollywood hip hop and South Asian traditional dances.

Sundara Light Dances is at Cultural Conversations in Morrison Square.

Cultural Conversations is a community-based arts hub that facilitates opportunities for people from Nelson’s former refugee and migrant communities to share music, art and storytelling through creative programmes, workshops, and events.
